Start from North Carse and go inland towards Tallowquhairn.  Walk around Arbigland (despite the Scottish right of way the owners do not want you to cross their land) and go past the John Paul Jones Museum.  Turn to the coast at Powillimount.  Follow the beach to Southerness and its lighttower. Walk back along the coast at low tide. Don't miss the natural arch (Thirl Stane) near Powillimount.  Walk all the way from Southerness to North Carse along the beach.
